A type of Layer 2 that bundles (rolls up) many transactions into one, then submits proof to Layer 1. Two variants: Optimistic Rollups (assume valid unless challenged) and ZK Rollups (cryptographic proof of validity).
Example
Arbitrum and Optimism are Optimistic; zkSync and StarkNet are ZK.
