Definition
Locking cryptocurrency to help validate a proof-of-stake blockchain, in exchange for rewards. Unlike mining, staking doesn't require specialized hardware. Ethereum staking requires 32 ETH minimum to run a validator, or you can pool via services like Lido.
Example
Ethereum staking yields ~3-5% APR in 2026. Solana staking yields ~7% but with higher inflation.
