Ronin Bridge Hack

North Korea's Lazarus Group exploits the Axie Infinity Ronin bridge, stealing $625M.

The second-largest crypto hack in history at the time. Lazarus used social engineering — a fake LinkedIn job offer to an engineer — to gain validator key access. The Treasury Department later sanctioned the attacker's Ethereum address, testing the tension between OFAC compliance and crypto's censorship-resistance ethos. Axie Infinity's play-to-earn economy never recovered.
